What are fluoroplastics and why use them? |

Fluoroplastics may not be widely known, but in many ways, they are the superheroes of the plastics industry, and incredibly strong.
What are fluoroplastics?
A normal plastic polythene molecule consists of a carbon chain with hydrogen atoms attached. Yet in fluoroplastics, hydrogen atoms are replaced with fluorine atoms, which dramatically changes their properties.
PTFE, FEP, PFA and other fluoropolymers have non-stick characteristics, very high resistance to chemicals and solvents, very high electrical resistance, and incredibly, are ideal for use in very low and very high working temperatures from -200°C right up to +260°C.
By adding extra fillers to the mix, such as carbon, graphite, anti-static and ceramic, it is possible to boost these exceptional properties even further! Find out more about our Fluoroplastic Tubes.
Fluoroplastic applications
Typically, fluoroplastics do not melt, so they need to be processed using special tooling and techniques. But once this is done, there are many different industries that PTFE, FEP and PFA can be used into great effect.
Being able to function in extremely high temperatures and non-corrosive to all acids, fluoropolymers are often used to make gaskets, vessel linings, pump interiors, washers, rings, seals, spacers, dip tubes and well-drilling components.
Fluoroplastic Films are well used in heated processes within manufacturing and laboratory test environments. In electrics, they are used as excellent insulators for wire and cable wrapping. Being inert, they can be used for chip manufacturing and encapsulating heaters.
Their non-toxic, completely smooth surface means that they are also often used in the medical and pharmaceutical, food and drink, and cosmetics industries, as microbes just cannot gain a foothold.
Silicone Rubber comes in a variety of forms, adhesives, sealants, moulding rubbers for reproduction, encapsulants and potting compounds for electronics and coatings.
Silicone polymers are usually flowable liquids which are cured to form a flexible silicone elastomer or rubber. Additives provide additional characteristics such as adhesion, colour, thermal conductivity to mention a few. Silicone rubber is especially resistant to high temperatures and attack from moisture or chemicals.
As silicone sealants they are widely used in the construction industry with excellent adhesion to glass and ceramics and plastics.
In electronics they are used as adhesives, encapsulants and coatings providing high temperature resistance and being increasingly used for thermal transfer in high power or heat generating applications.
What is Viton?
Viton Rubber is a brand name of DuPont for its synthetic rubber and fluoropolymer elastomer, commonly used in O-rings and other molded or extruded products. This family of elastomers comprises copolymers of terpolymers of tetrafluoroethylene (TFE), hexafluoropropylene (HFP) and vinylidene fluoride (VDF or VF2), vinylidene fluoride (VDF) and hexafluoropropylene (HFP) as well as perfluoromethylvinylether (PMVE) containing specialty polymers. DuPont were the first to really market this family of materials, so Viton has become the most commonly associated name with this fluoropolymer family. There are four families of Viton polymers, and the fluorine content of these most popular Viton grades varies between 66 and 70%. The main grades are A (Dipolymers of VF2/HFP), which has a fluorine content of 66%; B (Terpolymers of VF2/HFP/TFE), which commonly used for seals or gaskets and contains 68% fluorine; F (Terpolymers of VF2/HFP/TFE), which is used in oxygenated automotive fuels and has 70% fluorine content; and finally specialty types (such as GLT, GBLT, GFLT & Viton Extreme), which are used in automotive and oil exploration applications.
Silicone Sponge Products have swept into kitchens but what’s so great about them and should you buy a silicone sponge?
If you ever get fed up with the smell of your kitchen sponge, you should probably get rid of it. But that’s only a temporary fix because your sponge is eventually going to smell at some point. So how do you get a sponge that won’t smell? One popular solution is a silicon sponge.
Does a Silicone Sponge Work With Dishes?
A silicone sponge is not porous, like a typical sponge, so it’s less susceptible to bacteria taking root. Bacteria makes sponges smell so a silicone sponge eliminates that problem.
Benefits of a Silicone Sponge
Silicone sponges get touted as being environmentally friendly because they reduce the consumption of cellulose sponges and will last far longer. Plus, you can wash the sponge in your dishwasher and it won’t scratch your pots and pans. A silicone sponge is also great for other things like picking up lint and pet hair.
Sponge rubber can be designed to be open cell or closed cell, but is most commonly used as closed cell and is also known as expanded rubber. Inside a piece of sponge rubber, there are enclosed capsules, or cells, that do not connect with each other. They look very similar to the “bubbles” in a piece of extremely dense foam.
These cell walls are useful for preventing water, air, and to some extent sound from passing through the material. Closed cell sponge rubber can be modified to embody various products necessary to make it suitable for a specific application.
Closed cell EPDM Sponge Products offer great ozone resistance and stand up well to adverse weather conditions. However, it is vulnerable to certain fuels and oils and may fall short of UL flame ratings unless a suitable additive is added to improve its flame-retardant qualities.
Closed cell silicone sponge rubber is stable at both high and low-temperature extremes. It’s characteristically less flame-resistant than many other closed cell sponge rubbers but does offer excellent sunlight and ozone degradation resistance.
Neoprene Sponge Products are designed to be more flame resistant than many of their counterparts. It can withstand intermittent exposure to temperatures of up to approximately 90°C, and with careful compound manipulation can resist light oil contact, acids, alkalis, and ozone damage.
These are by no means the only types of closed cell sponge rubber, but they are certainly some of the most common.
What is Plastic Tubing?
Plastic tubing is a form of tubing that is manufactured from a mixture of a polymer with a variety of chemicals to form a material that can be solid or flexible. Since its first use in the 1950‘s, Plastic Tube has revolutionized industrial processes and has found a use in a wide variety of applications.
The popularity of plastic tubing is due to its adaptability and flexibility. It is produced in a wide variety of wall thickness, diameter, tolerance, and strength using a combination of materials to specifically fit a variety of applications.
Applications for Plastic Tubing
The flexibility, durability, and adaptability of plastic tubing makes it applicable for industrial applications that require long wear and endurance as well as commercial use in consumer products and homes. The main benefit of plastic over steel, aluminum, or other materials is its consistent strength and cost effectiveness since it is far less expensive to produce.

What are the differences between nitrile vs vinyl gloves? Which is better for what purposes?
While nitrile gloves are generally more expensive than vinyl gloves, they offer a number of advantages over vinyl. When choosing disposable gloves, the main issue to consider is which ones are appropriate for the task at hand.
The purpose of this guide is not to give you a definitive answer on which type of glove is better. Rather, it will provide information about nitrile and vinyl gloves that allow you to make your own decision based on your needs.
What are Nitrile Gloves?
Nitrile is a synthetic rubber that offers flexibility, long-life durability, and chemical resistance. Nitrile is a synthetic elastomer designed to be moisture resistant. Disposable nitrile gloves are flexible and durable making them ideal for industrial tasks, the food industry, and health care applications. They are also great for most medical environments.
What are Nitrile Gloves Made From?
Nitrile Gloves are made from synthetic rubber called acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber. This material provides users with heightened tactile sensitivity, allowing you to pick up small items such as screws and needles more accurately. They are also more puncture resistant.
The disposable glove materials were first developed to solve the common problems of allergic reactions to natural rubber latex gloves and low protection against solvents. They are the most popular glove materials used in many industries and the ideal alternative to disposable latex gloves.
What are Nitrile Gloves Used For?
Nitrile gloves are used for a variety of industrial, domestic, and healthcare purposes. Nitrile gloves are the popular choice for health care workers, dentistry, beauty shop owners, healthcare providers, laboratory work, food handling, chemical handling, and general industrial tasks.
Nitrile protective gloves can also be found in the automotive industry and janitorial industry. Nitrile was found to be more durable than vinyl when performing gripping tasks with power tools and picking up tools like wrenches and screwdrivers.
What are Vinyl Gloves?
Vinyl Gloves are also made of a synthetic polymer but are often less thick and, as a result, less durable. Vinyl is great for non-hazardous situations but does not have the flexibility of nitrile.
What are Vinyl Gloves Made From?
Vinyl gloves are made from a blend of synthetic rubber, plasticizers, and additives called PVC. They were also developed as a great option for those suffering from latex allergies.
What are Vinyl Gloves Used For?
Vinyl gloves are frequently used for food handling, food preparation, low-risk health care applications, light clean-up jobs, and repetitive assembly line or manufacturing tasks. These products are commonly used in non-hazardous situations and low-risk infection environments because of the low level of protection offered. They work great for the food and beverage industry.
For decades, latex gloves were the king of the disposable glove industry. These days, though, as latex allergies are increasingly common, latex products have a more niche application. Either way, the material remains well-suited to handling certain jobs--and ill-suited to others.
Not sure whether latex gloves are the right fit? Here’s a look at what latex gloves are used for.
What are Latex Gloves?
You might be surprised to learn that the materials behind Latex Rubber Gloves are naturally occurring. In fact, while dip-molded latex might lead you to believe these are purely synthetic gloves, latex is actually a naturally occurring plant material.
Basically, latex is any polymer in a water-based or viscous form. Natural latex, or natural rubber latex, is derived from the rubber plant Hevea brasiliensis and is a complex emulsion of proteins, sugars, oils, starches, tannins, alkaloids, resins, and gums that coagulate when exposed to the air.
We transition from the rubber plant to commercial latex by taking fresh latex and transforming it through a process of blending, coagulation, and drying.
What are Disposable Latex Gloves Used For?
Latex gloves have long been popular power players among disposable gloves, whether they’re powdered latex gloves or powder-free gloves. These days, workplaces are more conscious of latex allergies.
Even so, latex remains a popular glove material for its comfort, stretchiness, and tactile sensitivity. This makes latex a popular compound among a specific population: the medical industry.
In terms of medical gloves--especially surgical gloves--few materials can match the dexterity and tactile sensitivity of a latex glove. This is incredibly important for work requiring extreme precision, such as surgery. That said, even regular physicians remain frequent users of latex gloves. Even a regular physical exam needs tactile sensitivity, and on that front, latex gloves are hard to beat.
Latex is also quite popular among workers who need frequent glove changes, whether that’s the healthcare industry or elsewhere. In many cases, you would need powdered gloves to provide the same comfort level as latex powder-free gloves.
POLYETHYLENE GLOVES are our most economical glove. PE Products are most often used for light duty tasks that require frequent glove changes. This glove has a loose fit design for easy on and off applications, and is especially useful in food service lines, deli counters, and other high volume applications. Our clear PE Gloves are available in high density, low density, cast poly, and a new stretch hybrid version that is also available in blue. All PE gloves sold by The Safety Zone are powder free and non-medical as well. All Poly Gloves are 100% Phthalate Free, 100% Latex Free and 100% Silicone Free.
Non Woven Shoe Covers are the newest environmentally friendly material, anti-slip and anti-static, and are loved by customers. The most important feature of disposable shoe covers is that they are easy to use and can be used in a wide range of applications, saving you the trouble of taking off your shoes.
Disposable shoe covers save you the trouble of taking off your shoes and achieving a non-polluting environment. Non-woven disposable shoe covers are made of the latest environmentally friendly materials and are naturally biodegradable.

Benefits of artificial plants |

If you’re interested in a greener aesthetic for your interiors and exteriors, then Artificial Plants have a lot to offer. Thanks to advances in design and finish it is often difficult to distinguish between an artificial plant and the real thing today. As a result, there is no compromise when it comes to appearance and feels and this provides many more options where greenery and plants are concerned. If you’re looking to bring the advantages of plants to your surroundings then there are five key benefits to the artificial option.
1. A MORE COST EFFECTIVE APPROACH
Real plants inevitably come with a larger cost attached. Some may be cheaper to buy up front but will require ongoing tending to that always comes with a price tag. Real plants die and need to be replaced and may require increasingly bigger pots as they grow. Plus, a real plant may arrive as a seedling that takes years to reach its full height to have the impact that you want. Artificial Trees arrive fully mature with only the up front cost to pay.
2. CONSIDERABLY REDUCED MAINTENANCE
As well as the ongoing tending that real plants require – pruning, watering, fertilisers etc – the plant may also need to be moved to ensure adequate sunlight, water or draining. Changes in temperature could be problematic and you may periodically need a specialist to come in and tend to your plants. Artificial Grasses are very different – you have a low quality product then you may have to move them occasionally to stop fade but other than that it’s really only necessary to wipe the leaves down occasionally if they start to gather dust.
3. GET EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT
If you don’t have the right environment or space for the plants that you’re looking for then you may find your options severely restricted with real greenery. Tropical blooms, for example, may need sunlight or a humid atmosphere that you just can’t provide. This isn’t the case with artificial plants – you can create exactly the aesthetic you want with no limitations. Plus, the range of Artificial Vines is so broad today that you’ll have a huge amount of choice when it comes to your options.
4. ENJOY WELLBEING BENEFITS
Real plants do often provide filtration when it comes to the air that we breathe and artificial plants won’t do that. However, research has found that in terms of wellbeing benefits such as improving mood and morale, as well as productivity and focus, Artificial Leaf Vines really work.
5. AVOIDING ISSUES WITH ALLERGIES
Real plants can be the source of a lot of issues for humans sharing the same space. For example, they can trigger allergies and may even be responsible for poisoning if they are touched or consumed by children or pets. Artificial Hanging Plants don’t come with any of these problems and there’s no need to worry about pollen, which is the source of allergies for 12+ million people in the UK alone.
There are some obvious benefits to opting for artificial plants. From variety to cost effectiveness they win every time.
Gone are the days when live plants were the norm. Today, artificial plants are making their way into indoor and outdoor spaces. Homeowners can opt for plastic or silk plants that are designed, shaped and painted to look and feel like the real thing. If you are looking for durable, low-maintenance plants, then faux trees and flowers are the best choices. They have many benefits compared to natural plants, and some of the advantages are listed below.
6. Low Maintenance
Artificial plants (Including artificial outdoor plants) require no sunlight, watering, pruning, and addition of fertilizers, thus you can have beutiful plants without the need for lots of maintenance. You can dust them every 3 to 4 months and they last for many years. The faux plants that Pacific Silkscapes provides are extremely easy to maintain and look after. While real plants need regular sunlight to grow in a healthy manner, Artificial Bonsai do not require regular exposure to sunlight. No need for fertilizer, pesticides, or herbicides. You won’t have root rot or growth problems. There is no need for soil. You won’t require interior sunlight or temperature control. They do not shed their leaves seasonally. No more worrying about water and chemical damage to your carpet.
7. Security
If your building is a bank or government facility, you don’t need to have someone coming to the water and maintain the plants. In addition, with Covid-19, there’s less exposure to outsiders spreading the virus.
8. No seasonal changes
Live plants seasonally shed their flowers and leaves and change their appearance. Artificial Potted Cactus are not affected by changes in seasons. Do they always stay great looking, even with very little care.
9. Bring the outdoors inside
High quality realistic artificial plants and trees add “life” to a room. They have a calming effect and studies have shown that they improve productivity in the workplace.
10. Rearrange with Ease
Since artificial plants don’t grow or require water, that also means they don’t have to be planted in natural soil. Additionally, they won’t be “shocked” by being relocated, unlike live plants. Often, Indoor Artificial Trees are supported by materials like foam, making them more lightweight and easy to rearrange. All you need to do is pick the artificial plant up along with its supporting base and choose a new location.
11. Large selection
It doesn’t matter what your plant preferences are, Pacific Silkscapes has a wide range of landscaping products for you to choose from. At Pacific Silkscapes, we custom design artificial trees and awesome silk flower arrangements. You can choose from almost any kind of foliage you could think of for a custom-designed tree, floor plant, or silk flower arrangement. Tell us what size you need, what spray to use for the trees or flowers for the arrangement, and let us create magic. We aim to create your perfect tree.
12. Cost-Effective and you get a return on investment
Another reason why you should consider installing Artificial Leaf Vines in your home or office space is that these silk plants may look upscale and expensive, but they are surprisingly affordable. Perfect for reducing maintenance costs. The faux silk plants are competitively priced. Unlike live plants, indoor and outdoor artificial plants do not require additional money in fertilizers or in hiring a professional landscaper for maintenance and care. So, if you’re looking to decorate your corporate office, restaurant, casino or assisted living facility to consider an artificial silk plant landscape from Pacific Silkscapes. HOW TO STRAP A NEWBORN INTO A CAR SEAT |
Geschrieben von: bop07mo - 12.04.2022, 01:45 - Forum: Uservorstellung

Newborns are best protected when travelling by a Newborn Baby Car Seat approved from birth (Group 0), that is specifically designed for the unique and delicate postural needs of a newborn, with adequate recline and padding.
Using an infant car seat is the first step towards keeping your baby safe in the car. Correctly installing it and strapping your baby in securely is equally important. Even if you buy the safest possible car seat for your baby, if it's not fitted or used correctly, it won't be able to perform as it was designed in a crash.
The first time that you buckle your baby into the Group 0+ Car Seat will be when you are being discharged home from hospital. Read our guide below so that you are well prepared for your baby’s first journey home.
Here are some important facts and steps to ensure you keep your baby as safe as possible while travelling in the car.
1. READ THE MANUAL
The best way to ensure that you use your car seat correctly is to read the manual! The manual contains vital information that you need to be aware of in order for the car seat to perform optimally in a crash. The manual will advise where the car seat may be installed in the car and it will instruct you on how to install it correctly. It will also tell you how to adjust the car seat to fit your baby properly. Do not improvise or go against anything stated in the manual. Most European manufacturers do not allow any kind of adjustments or additions such as using a pool noodle to recline it, so be careful not to do anything that is not explicitly stated in the manual.
2. INSTALL THE CAR SEAT CORRECTLY
All European car seats must have 3 points of contact with the seatbelt or vehicle anchors. The Toddler Car Seat can either be installed with the vehicle's 3-point seatbelt, or with isofix. ALWAYS read your particular car seat's manual before installing the car seat.
a) SECURING THE CAR SEAT TO THE VEHICLE
Correct installation of an infant seat used without a base:
When installing an infant car seat without a base, using only the seatbelt, the seatbelt makes a snake-like pattern once routed correctly called Serpentine Routing.
Place the car seat on the vehicle bench with the baby facing backwards. You will see blue seatbelt guides on the car seat; 2 over the front of the seat and 1 at the back of the seat. Route the lapbelt of the seatbelt through the 2 seatbelt guides in the front of the seat i.e. where the baby’s legs/lap would go. Buckle the seatbelt in.
Pull the seatbelt nice and tight, then route the shoulder belt around the back of the car seat and through the blue seatbelt guide at the back of the Toddler Car Seat Group 0+1+2+3, making sure there are no twists in the seatbelt. Pull out any slack in the seatbelt to get it in securely. You can watch our video HERE on how to install a car seat using the seatbelt.
Correct installation of an infant seat with an ISOfix base: Attach the 2 ISOfix anchors to the vehicles ISOfix brackets and make sure the indicators turn green. Push the base into the vehicle backrest to tighten it. Drop the load leg until it makes full contact with the floor and the indicator turns green. Click the car seat onto the base and check that the indicator turns green. If you are using an ISOfix base, you should not use the seatbelt as well.
For an infant seat being used with a belted base:
Route the seatbelt through the base as indicated by the manual. If a load leg is present, lower it until it makes full contact with the floor. Check that all indicators are green.
*Note that load legs may not be installed over underfloor storage compartments. Contact your vehicle dealership to order an approved filler, if you have underfloor storage compartments. Alternatively, buy a car seat without a load leg.
3. PUT THE HANDLE BAR IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION.
The handle bar acts as a rollbar in a crash, and prevents the Toddler Car Seat Group 0+1 hitting into the backrest of the car. Check your manual for the correct position it should be in.
4. RECLINE ANGLE
Infants have poor head control and are at risk of positional asphyxiation if their car seat is too upright. The correct recline angle for a baby without head control is approximately 45 degrees. If your car seat is too upright, you can try installing it without the base (if you are using one) to get a more reclined position.
If the car seat is still too upright, some manufacturers permit you to tilt the Child Car Seat backward very slightly after the seatbelt has been tightened around it first. But please check this with your manufacturer before doing this.
5. CHECKING FOR MOVEMENT
Up to 1 inch (2.5cm) of movement is permitted. You can check this by giving the car seat a firm shake at the belt path or near the ISOfix points with your non-dominant hand. Do not be alarmed if it moves more at the headrest. Group 1+2+3 Car Seats will move more at the top of the car seat, but they should not move more than an inch at the belt path/ISOfix points.
6. ADJUSTING THE HARNESS AND HEADREST
Please refer to your manual for instructions on how to adjust the headrest and harness to the correct height. For rear facing car seats, the harness must be at or just below the shoulders. The bottom of the headrest should usually be in line with the bottom of the baby’s ears, and the head should be less than an inch below the top of the headrest.

“For years, some of these eggshells have been converted by the rendering industry into animal feed supplements. And these same eggshells also have components of value to the papermaking, pharmaceutical and biochemistry industries,” explains Jeff Hsieh, a professor in the Georgia Tech School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and the study’s principal investigator. Professor Hsieh and his research team are concentrating their efforts on using the main component, calcium carbonate (CaCO3), in papermaking applications.
Eggshell components: Valuable resources
According to Professor Hsieh, the eggshells are approximately 95% calcium carbonate and 4.5% membrane. The calcium carbonate in the eggshells, he says, can be a substitute for mined minerals used to improve brightness, opacity and strength in the Eggshell Paper. It can also potentially be used to improve the appearance of the paper, making it easier to print on as well as smoother, more opaque and brighter when used as a coating. The eggshell membrane, on the other hand, contains 10% collagen, which can be used as a raw material in the manufacture of amino acids. The remainder of the membrane can be used as an additive for animal feed.

What Does Downhole Tooling Mean?
Downhole tooling refers to the tools used downhole during drilling operations. Downhole Tools include drill bits, air hammer systems, mud mixers, transmitter housings, adapters, and reamers. Downhole tooling is very important in a drilling operation as it can impact the overall productivity of the machine.
Since tooling is prone to wear and tear the cost of tooling should be taken into account while considering the overall cost of operation.
Downhole tooling is selected based on the production goals of a project, geology, obstacles and ground conditions. Right tooling selection is governed by selecting the right drill bits, selecting the right sonde housing, and the correct back reaming accessories. Good downhole tooling can also help manage drilling fluid better. Since downhole tooling is an attachment, there is a possibility of losing the tools downhole.
Tooling should be sturdy, well-fitting and optimized for the drilling operation. A tool that breaks downhole can end up increasing wait time and thereby cost of the operation.
The term ‘Mechanical Set Packer’ probably doesn’t mean much to those not in the concrete repair industry. But for those close to chemical grouting, this term certainly brings about thoughts of both form and function. Mechanical packers are also referred to as ports, or more simply, packers. But we would like to be very clear that a port is not a packer.
Mechanical packers were designed to withstand high pressure injection applications by inserting them into pre-drilled holes in a concrete substrate at various diameters ranging most commonly from 1/4" – 5/8”. Mechanical packers feature a rubber base with a threaded shaft. As the threaded shaft is tightened, the rubber base is compressed, creating a compression seal inside the drill hole. The ultimate pressure tolerance is dependent upon the amount the rubber is expanded and the total surface area of the rubber base that is in contact with the drill hole. That is, a smaller diameter packer will have considerably less surface area of rubber compressed against the concrete side walls, and thus holding a lower amount of pressure when connected to high pressure equipment. Most job site and substrate conditions will permit successful injection results with a diameter of 3/8” – 1/2". Of course, some contractors have personal preference of smaller or larger sizes.
Packers also come in various types. Suppliers will market benefits of steel, brass, zinc, or aluminum. All things considered, Permanent Set Packers tend to be the most versatile packers as they are compatible with all chemical grout types, while the brass, aluminum, and zinc can exhibit signs of deterioration when using oxidizing agents such as the salt component in a polyacryate gel. However, some contractors insist that the breakdown is not as quick as marketed by suppliers, therefore utilizing brass and aluminum packers in these applications as well.
Each packer features an anti-return ball valve that is opened under pressure, allowing the passage of chemical grouts. Upon depressurizing, the ball valve will close, prohibiting the return flow of the injection resin out of the drill hole. This ball valve can be located on the top of the packer, in the base of the packer, or even freely-floating in the packer shaft to allow for maximum flow. There are pros and cons to each ball valve location depending on job site condition and application and finishing techniques.
Lastly, there are plastic alternatives commonly referred to as ‘bang-in’ or ‘hammer-in’. These Hydraulic Set Packer do not have the threaded metal shaft, but as they are driven into the drill hole, the same compression seal theory takes hold as the tapered edges become lodged into the drill hole sides. Another form of plastic ports is a plastic, surface-mounted version that is commonly used in epoxy injection and/or in the event that drilling into the substrate would be considered harmful or ill-advised.
While every effort is put forth before drilling begins to ensure a successful well, not every well hits hydrocarbons at a commercially productive level. Statistically, wildcat (or exploratory) wells have a one in seven chance of discovering oil or gas. While six may be dry holes, one in the group can make a big enough difference to outweigh all the risks.
Once drilling operations have been completed, it is important for drillers, engineers and geologists to determine whether to move on to the next phase: completion for production. Formation Test Tools ascertain if there are enough hydrocarbons to produce from a well, as well as provide important information to design the well completion and production facilities.
Used to establish formation pressure, permeability, and reservoir and formation fluid characterization, there are three major methods of formation testing that help to reveal the downhole formation: well logging, core sampling and drill stem tests.
In the oil field, knowledge is power. The more the industry learns about the subsurface, the more it can optimize everything from drill bits and completion designs to enhanced oil recovery techniques, which ultimately translates to higher returns and smaller environmental footprints.
Understanding what is happening thousands of feet beneath the surface must always require inferences, but between more robust and affordable Downhole Cleaning Tools and models that can turn data into deeper insights, it is becoming easier to picture downhole events at the surface.
Wired drill pipe can enable operators to get more information from the downhole. “Wired pipe’s general reliability has improved enough that we believe the technology will follow a similar adoption path as rotary steerable systems, making another step forward in the well construction process,” says Ian Silvester, chief executive officer for the U.S. subsidiary of Reelwell AS. “It will not only improve drilling efficiencies, but also help drillers put the well in the optimum place and deliver smooth, high-quality wellbores.

A staple in many American bathrooms is a simple and helpful toothbrush. These oral cleaners are seen in bathrooms in television, movies, pictures from and of celebrities, millions of homes, and so much more. These little brushes work hard to keep our mouths clean, and without their help, our oral health could suffer greatly and cause us to need significant surgeries to keep our health up to par.
HOW THE TOOTHBRUSH CAME TO BE
The Toothbrush has many iterations, with the earliest version that looks like the brushes we have today being invented in 1498 in China. These toothbrushes had boar hair bristles with a bone or bamboo handle to hold. These brushes were specially made until 1780 when William Addis began
mass producing them. Now, everyone had the ability to better their oral health and allow them to take care of themselves and their teeth in one of the best ways possible.
THE BEST TOOL FOR TEETH AND GUMS
Adult Toothbrushes are important for us to use every day, and they’re a tool every dentist across the world will recommend you use every day. By using toothbrushes, you are able to better your tooth and gum health and maintain a healthier mouth than if you decided to not brush your teeth at all. As always, these small steps, along with seeing a caring and helpful dentist, will help you achieve a healthy and happy smile your entire life.
WHY THE TOOTHBRUSH IS IMPORTANT FOR OUR HEALTH
Toothbrushes are available at most major grocery, convenience, and pharmacy stores. Major brands like Wal-Mart, Walgreens, and CVS should carry toothbrushes and other oral health tools. Their ease of access makes owning and replacing them convenient, and it allows people to switch between brands and types of toothbrushes to be able to find the one that they like the most. Having a Bamboo Toothbrush that works with you and feels the most comfortable is important, so be sure to switch around until you find the one that works for you.
Having a toothbrush that is comfortable and easy for you to use is important as it will make the few minutes you spend every day brushing your teeth easier and better. Brushing our teeth allows us to fight gum disease, cavities, and other oral health conditions that will cause us to lose our teeth and suffer other health issues like heart disease. By brushing our teeth, we can improve our oral health and our overall health, which means longer and happier lives for all that do the simple act of brushing their teeth.
Why isn’t brushing enough?
The tooth has 5 surfaces, but your toothbrush can only reach 3 of them. The two untouched surfaces are very close to the sides of other teeth, making it easy for food to get trapped in between. When food gets stuck in these gaps, it creates a breeding ground for bacteria to build up, creating plaque. This is where Floss comes in handy – as an interdental cleaning tool, it can get into these tight spaces and remove 80% of plaque.
When you neglect flossing, plaque and bacteria can easily build up. If they are not removed properly the bacteria will eventually begin to irritate the gum tissue, and this will get worse as bacteria increases. When left untreated, this can eventually cause Gingivitis – a periodontal disease that causes red and puffy gums to bleed easily.
As well as causing irritation, the bacteria between your teeth will also destroy your tooth’s enamel, causing a cavity. Flossing will remove this plaque to prevent the build-up of harmful bacteria. Regularly flossing is a great way to check your mouth for potential cavities, as well as swelling or redness. Dental Floss will also make your teeth look brighter by removing plaque and excess food that you may not spot in a mirror.
- Good for your overall health
We understand that brushing your teeth after each meal may not be convenient, but flossing after a meal is easy and can be done anywhere. Not only does regular flossing help you practice good oral hygiene, but it can also help you maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle, as flossing after eating will make you less tempted to snack.
Dentists recommend that you should floss once a day, the best time being in the evenings after you brush to remove any food and plaque at the end of the day. If you are concerned about dental diseases or have noticed any sensitivity or changes to your teeth, please book an appointment with Whistler Dental.
Dental Floss Picks are D-shaped pieces of plastic with a handle. They contain a single piece of floss stretched between the two arms and can be a convenient way to floss, especially if you’re on the go or have mobility issues with arthritis in your hands
But how can you make sure you use dental floss picks properly? And are they effective? Below, the dental experts at Northside Dental Clinic will answer these questions for you.
How do I floss with dental floss picks?
Dental floss picks aren’t the same as normal floss strings because they use the same small piece of floss throughout your entire mouth. It can also be difficult to curve the floss picks to get into all the different angles and surfaces of your teeth. However, if you use the right technique, flossing with dental floss picks can be an effective way to fight plaque and bacteria buildup between your teeth, on the surface of your teeth, and underneath your gums.
To start, here are three easy steps to follow while flossing with dental floss pics:
- Use the pick to get between two of your teeth and gently press it against your gums.
- Slide the pick with an in and out motion to remove any food particles from between your teeth.
- Rinse the floss pick as needed to make sure it stays clean.
Flossing is just one of several options for interdental cleaning. It should be noted that floss is most advantageous in sites where healthy papillae fill embrasure spaces; open embrasures that often accompany tissue loss are likely better served by other devices, such as the Interdental Brush. To be effective, any interproximal device must be used properly; thus, there is need for quality research studies with comparable methodology to evaluate the effectiveness of floss and other interproximal devices in reducing gingival inflammation.
Typically made to appear clear so it will be less visible, orthodontic wax is made of natural substances, such as carnauba wax, beeswax or paraffin wax. It also contains some modifiers and fillers to make it function better. You can get tasteless wax for braces or products that come in a variety of flavors including mint.
Why Use Dental Wax for Braces?
Traditional orthodontic braces include metal brackets that hold wires, which run around the teeth. After a period of time, this wire is tightened to apply pressure to the teeth and help guide them into alignment. Sometimes brackets can irritate the soft tissue inside the mouth as they rub against it. The tongue and cheek are especially sensitive early on, since they haven’t had a chance to get used to the contact. While you wait for these areas to toughen, you can use orthodontic wax to cover a troublesome bracket and help protect your tongue, lips and cheek from abrasions.
How to Use Orthodontic Wax
Before touching your Orthodontic Wax, be sure to thoroughly wash your hands with soap to prevent bacteria from entering any sores within your mouth. You may also want to take this opportunity to brush your teeth, floss and clean your braces to avoid plaque buildup.
Once your hands and mouth are clean, identify any painful areas by examining your mouth for red marks or abrasions, or by feeling around with your fingertips. Once you find a troublesome area, locate the responsible bracket and dry it using a cloth or tissue.
Roll a small ball of wax in your fingers, allowing the heat from your hand to soften it, so you can shape it the way you want. Be careful not to use too much wax, as it may feel uncomfortable or fall off inside your mouth.
After molding the wax, press it over the wire or bracket responsible for your discomfort. Press firmly, surrounding the area as best you can, using your fingertip. You may also use your tongue to help shape the wax and mold it in place.
Once the wax is in place, your abrasions will have an opportunity to heal. Since there is an exceptional amount of blood flow in the mouth, this shouldn’t take very long. Re-apply the wax as needed to protect the irritated areas. In time, the soft tissue in your mouth will toughen, and you will need the wax less and less.

Wireless charging explained: What is it and how does it work? |

Wireless charging has been around since the late 19th century, when electricity pioneer Nikola Tesla demonstrated magnetic resonant coupling – the ability to transmit electricity through the air by creating a magnetic field between two circuits, a transmitter and a receiver.
But for about 100 years it was a technology without many practical applications, except, perhaps, for a few electric toothbrush models.
Today, there are nearly a half dozen wireless charging technologies in use, all aimed at cutting cables to everything from smartphones and laptops to kitchen appliances and cars.
Wireless charging is making inroads in the healthcare, automotive and manufacturing industries because it offers the promise of increased mobility and advances that could allow tiny internet of things (IoT) devices to get power many feet away from a Wireless Charger.
The most popular wireless technologies now in use rely on an electromagnetic field between a two copper coils, which greatly limits the distance between a device and a charging pad. That's the type of charging Apple has incorporated into the iPhone 8 and the iPhone X.
How wireless charging works
Broadly speaking, there are three types of wireless charging, according to David Green, a research manager with IHS Markit. There are charging pads that use tightly-coupled electromagnetic inductive or non-radiative charging; charging bowls or through-surface type chargers that use loosely-coupled or radiative electromagnetic resonant charging that can transmit a charge a few centimeters; and uncoupled radio frequency (RF) Wireless Charging Stand that allows a trickle charging capability at distances of many feet.
Both tightly coupled inductive and loosely-coupled resonant charging operate on the same principle of physics: a time-varying magnetic field induces a current in a closed loop of wire.
It works like this: A magnetic loop antenna (copper coil) is used to create an oscillating magnetic field, which can create a current in one or more receiver antennas. If the appropriate capacitance is added so that the loops resonate at the same frequency, the amount of induced current in the receivers increases. This is resonant inductive charging or magnetic resonance; it enables power transmission at greater distances between transmitter and receiver and increases efficiency. Coil size also affects the distance of power transfer. The bigger the coil, or the more coils there are, the greater the distance a charge can travel.
In the case of smartphone Wireless Charging Pads, for example, the copper coils are only a few inches in diameter, severely limiting the distance over which power can travel efficiently.
But when the coils are larger, more energy can be transferred wirelessly. That's the tactic WiTricity, a company formed from research at MIT a decade ago, has helped pioneer. It licenses loosely-coupled resonant technology for everything from automobiles and wind turbines to robotics.
Whether you’re an ardent party host or laid-back college student in a shoebox dorm room, a Bluetooth Speaker is a simple way to improve your soundscape. Sometimes you don’t have the want (or funds) to make the leap into the world of high-end stereo or home theater audio systems, but a good Bluetooth speaker can keep you company in and out of the home. This article covers what features to look out for when searching for the best product for your needs. If your summer days consist of hikes, camping, or hours on your bike, get a durable speaker. At the very least, this means a speaker with an IP rating, which indicates water resistance. Anyone who’s particularly clumsy should also get a speaker with some degree of drop protection, even if it only covers one meter.
Portability is another thing to consider if you plan to have a speaker on your person at all times. No one wants to lug around a Sonos Move. Fortunately, there are great portable options from UE and JBL—not to mention the plethora of small-name speakers available online. If you go with the UE WONDERBOOM 2 or JBL GO 3, you get an integrated carrying system.
The Headset Stand might be one of the most underutilized desktop acessories of 2020. No, really! It’s true! We’re living in an era of open workspaces where more people are wearing headphones throughout the day — listening to music, taking calls or just tuning out the rest of the office cacophony. But where do those headphones go when the day is done? Tossed in a drawer, discarded on the desk or flung over your desktop monitor. No, it’s time to act like a professional and invest in a proper desktop stand.
- Declutter your desk space and improve productivity.
It’s no huge secret that a clean and organized workplace can get you in a better mindset to get down to business. And this is exactly what a headphone stand can do. It provides a place to rest your headphones, off your desk’s workspace, and a headphone stand just looks nice and sophisticated, making you feel like a professional who is going to get some real work done.
- They’re pretty inexpensive.
In general, headphone stands are a pretty affordable desktop upgrade. You can of course go out and buy a headphone stand that costs as much as a nice pair of headphones. Case in point: the Focal Headphone Stand ($249). But you can also get a pretty nice headphone stand for as low as $20.
Headphone stands come in all different shapes, styles and materials. There are headphone stands that are minimalist, stands that have ergonomic designs to help preserve the shape of your headphones, stands that stick to the bottom of your desk (out of sight, out of mind), and stands that are full-on statement pieces. Whatever fits your style and budget, there’s a headphone stand for you.
Using USB Chargers Safely
There was a time when every device seemed to come with its own unique USB Charger. Remembering to pack the right charging cable was a must if you wanted to continue using your device whilst away from home. However, the Micro USB has combatted the industry’s use of custom ports and now charging your phone on-the-go is no longer a problem with the standardised connector.
There are many different important elements you should be aware of when it comes to USBs. We’ve covered all you need to know about USBs and answered some of the most frequently asked questions.
How USB charging works
When it comes to USB networks there is always one host and one device. The majority of the time the computer is the host and your appliance is the device. Power flows from the host to the device however data can flow freely between. A USB cable has four wires and a USB socket has four pins. The outside pins provide a 5 volt power supply in combination with the inside pins which carries the data.

What is CNC Machining?
CNC 101: The term CNC stands for 'computer numerical control', and the CNC Vertical Machining Center definition is that it is a subtractive manufacturing process that typically employs computerized controls and machine tools to remove layers of material from a stock piece—known as the blank or workpiece—and produces a custom-designed part. This process is suitable for a wide range of materials, including metals, plastics, wood, glass, foam, and composites, and finds application in a variety of industries, such as large CNC machining, machining of parts and prototypes for telecommunications, and CNC machining aerospace parts, which require tighter tolerances than other industries. Note there is a difference between the CNC machining definition and the CNC machine definition- one is a process and the other is a machine. A CNC Lathe (sometimes incorrectly referred to as a C and C machine) is a programmable machine that is capable of autonomously performing the operations of CNC machining.
Subtractive manufacturing processes, such as CNC machining, are often presented in contrast to additive manufacturing processes, such as 3D printing, or formative manufacturing processes, such as liquid injection molding. While subtractive processes remove layers of material from the workpiece to produce custom shapes and designs, additive processes assemble layers of material to produce the desired form and formative processes deform and displace stock material into the desired shape. The automated nature of CNC machining enables the production of high precision and high accuracy, simple parts and cost-effectiveness when fulfilling one-off and medium-volume production runs. However, while CNC machining demonstrates certain advantages over other manufacturing processes, the degree of complexity and intricacy attainable for part design and the cost-effectiveness of producing complex parts is limited.
Overview of CNC Machining Process
Evolving from the numerical control (NC) machining process which utilized punched tape cards, CNC machining is a manufacturing process which utilizes computerized controls to operate and manipulate machine and cutting tools to shape stock material—e.g., metal, plastic, wood, foam, composite, etc.—into custom parts and designs. While theCNC Compound Machining Center process offers various capabilities and operations, the fundamental principles of the process remain largely the same throughout all of them. The basic CNC machining process includes the following stages:
- Designing the CAD model
- Converting the CAD file to a CNC program
- Preparing the CNC machine
- Executing the machining operation
Types of CNC Machining Operations
CNC Engraving Machine is a manufacturing process suitable for a wide variety of industries, including automotive, aerospace, construction, and agriculture, and able to produce a range of products, such as automobile frames, surgical equipment, airplane engines, gears, and hand and garden tools. The process encompasses several different computer-controlled machining operations—including mechanical, chemical, electrical, and thermal processes—which remove the necessary material from the workpiece to produce a custom-designed part or product.
What is a CNC Machine? Types of CNC Machines and Machine Tools
Depending on the machining operation being performed, the CNC Tapping Center process employs a variety of CNC machines and machine tools to produce the custom-designed part or product. While the equipment may vary in other ways from operation to operation and application to application, the integration of computer numerical control components and software (as outlined above) remains consistent across all CNC machining equipment and processes.
The Laser Cutting Machine and Process
Laser cutting is a non-contact, thermal-based fabrication process suitable for metal and non-metal materials. For the laser cutting process to run smoothly and at optimum capacity, several factors should be taken into consideration, such as the laser cutting machine’s configuration and settings, the material being cut and its properties, and the type of laser and assist gas employed.
Overview of Laser Machine Components and Mechanics
In contrast to mechanical cutting, which utilizes cutting tools and power-driven equipment, and waterjet cutting, which utilizes pressurized water and abrasive material, laser cutting employs a Laser Machine to produce cuts, engravings, and markings. While laser cutting machines vary from model to model and application to application, the typical setup includes a laser resonator assembly, mirrors, and a laser cutting head which contains a laser focusing lens, a pressurized gas assembly, and a nozzle.
What is a Hydraulic Press?
A Hydraulic Press is a mechanical device that uses the static pressure of a liquid, as defined by Pascal‘s principle, to shape, deform, and configure various types of metals, plastics, rubber, and wood. The mechanism of a hydraulic press consists of a mainframe, power system, and controls.
Pascal‘s principle states that when pressure is applied to a confined liquid, a pressure change occurs in the liquid. For a hydraulic press, the pressure in a liquid is applied by a piston that works like a pump to create mechanical force.
How a Hydraulic Press Works
The process of a hydraulic press begins when a hydraulic fluid is forced into a double acting piston. The compressive force inside the small hydraulic cylinder pushes the fluid into a larger cylinder where more force and pressure are applied. The movement of the larger piston forces the fluid back into the smaller piston cylinder.
The passage of the fluids between the two pistons creates increased pressure that produces mechanical force to drive the anvil on a hydraulic press downward onto a workpiece that is deformed to produce a desired shape. Once the movement is complete, the pressure is released and the anvil returns to its original position.

BBQ tools
After the BBQ grill itself, a set of tools is the next most important item to tick off your shopping list. You need to be able to flip food safely to avoid burns and your standard kitchen utensils might not be long enough to maintain a safe distance from the heat. We’d opt for long-handled tongs and ones with metal tips in case of flare-ups. Ensure the handles are heat-resistant (choose rubber or wood) so your hands don’t get too hot.
If you plan to cook fish on your BBQ (like this delicious barbecued salmon with coriander and coconut, for example), try using a fish basket. These can often fit several fillets at once and help ensure an even cook, as you can flip over the basket. Choose one with a heat-resistant handle and a non-stick coating to avoid disturbing the fish’s delicate skin.
Wire Backing Racks are one of my essential baking tools. Keep reading to find out why you need them in your kitchen!
You’ve likely noticed that most recipes on BoB and many other sites direct you to place hot pans and freshly baked goods on a wire rack. That may seem like an unnecessary step with an unnecessary piece of equipment, but it’s actually quite important.
So, why do you need one? It’s simple, really. If you place a pan on a trivet or on your countertop, air doesn’t reach the bottom of the pan. A wire rack allows air to circulate completely around whatever is on it. This means that the pan or baked good will cool faster than if simply left on a countertop or a trivet. A hot pan will continue baking whatever is inside it, so faster cooling prevents over-baking.
Most recipes for cookies, cakes, or muffins will direct you to place the hot pan directly onto a cooling rack for a specified amount of time for the initial cooling phase. Then, once that time has passed, often the baked goods are transferred directly to the cooling rack to finish cooling. That final cooling step will keep away any accumulating condensation and steam, so your freshly baked treats won’t get soggy.
When it’s time to transfer your baked goods from the pan to the rack, that process depends on what you’ve baked.
The Appropriate Cooking Equipment for the Job
Fitting cooking equipment helps in the fast-paced processing of food. One of the important factors people are looking at a restaurant is the fast turnaround of their orders. They came in hungry, and they would want to get their food at the soonest possible time. Restaurants could only do that if they have the Kitchenware that could help them deliver the food that the client has ordered. Using traditional or home cooking equipment could not survive the large orders, which is the reason why cooking equipment made for restaurants is the appropriate thing for food establishments.
Why Do I Need Specific Cooking Equipment?
Everyone has heard the saying; “the right tool for the right job,” and “you are only as good as your tools.” These sayings are very true when it comes to the choice and use of cooking equipment. The quality of the cooking equipment that you choose to use is as outstanding as the tools themselves when it comes to work and food quality. Given that there is a wide variety of cooking equipment required for an even more extensive range of dishes, it’s essential to make sure that you choose the right types and quality to meet your kitchen's needs.
Designed to hold your precious vino in a horizontal position to keep the corks damp so they won’t dry out, Wine Racks come in a wide variety of sizes, configurations, and materials.
Most households only need a rack that holds from six to about 24 bottles, depending upon how much you imbibe and like to keep on hand. More serious collectors will also have more serious storage solutions: think wine cellars and built-in coolers.
A small, freestanding wine cooler is also a nice alternative to a storage rack, although it costs more, and you need to be sure you have the right space for it.
In this roundup, we’ll look at the three most common types of wine racks – countertop racks, wall-mounted racks, and freestanding racks – and recommend a couple of good choices in each category.
We’ll also keep in mind that these storage options are usually positioned right out where everyone can see them, so trust us, these choices will be as pleasing to the eye as the wine is to the palate.
Sheet Brass Nuts are fasteners that are designed to resist vibrations. Like other locknuts, they don’t loosen or otherwise come undone when exposed to vibrations. Rather, they remain secure, connecting the objects on which they are installed.
What Is a Sheet Metal Nut?
Also known as a speed nut, a sheet metal nut is an anti-vibration fastener that functions as both a locking washer as a well as a nut. They are typically made of low-carbon spring steel. They are called “sheet metal nuts” because they feature two sheet metal prongs on the back. When a bolt is inserted into a sheet metal nut, the sheet metal prongs contract inward to secure the nut in place.
